Like this blogger and countless moms I know, she struggled to get her children to eat healthy foods. She claims to have had some sort of personal epiphany after spying her younger child's baby food purees in the refrigerator. Purees, she must have thought, wide-eyed while stroking her chin. Yes! Of course! Purees! Mwaaaaah!
Deceptively Delicious is a collection of kid-friendly recipes - from Chicken Nuggets to brownies - that contain imperceptible amounts of nutritious, vitamin-rich purees.
My veggie-phobic son and husband gobbled up my Macaroni and Cheese (with pureed navy beans) and asked for seconds while my daughter/co-conspirator and I chuckled. They downed heaping spoon-fulls of Mashed Potatoes (with cauliflower), and inhaled my Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (with banana and zucchini) in record time.
Do the ends justify the means?
You bet they do.
Thanks, Jessica Seinfeld, for re-motivating this frustrated mom to get back in the kitchen and try, try again.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. It's been back ordered thanks to Oprah.
But any reason to stuff a vegetable down the kid's gullet is a good reason to me.
